They say “Do what you love to do”. True. Not every love is the love at first sight though. Then how about falling in love with what you are doing. This is what happened to me! Getting back to work after break was not easy. I started my job with mixed feelings and anxiety. First couple of months went in understanding the product and adopting to the way of working in a new surroundings. Its all open and people are free to do and contribute into whatever they want to. Initially I used to feel out of the place as I don’t talk much but I observed a lot.

Now the stage came where I had to give back what all I have learned in last couple of months. It started but progress was slow. Contributions weren’t as per expectations. Then, I did the much required self assessment. And I found what I am lacking is Love for what I am doing. I said to myself “It is not something you haven’t done and haven’t loved, may be now the people are different. What if its different, new challenges are there. It should excite you!” Love what you are doing. You will enjoy it. Following my voice, I started working on this.

I reconnected with why I actually fell in love with my work in my first job. Keenness to know more and share it back was the trigger. Saw all the ERPNext conference/ talks videos and was really glad after seeing them. Connecting to the community was a motivation. I focused on trying different business scenarios. Experiencing them with a state of curiosity and exploration. I started offering to help a new comer in the team and soak up some of her enthusiasm and excitement. I started ignoring small day to day troubles hindering my productivity. Gradually it became easier and comfortable.

Results have now started appearing. I am falling in love with what I am doing. I have started scheduling for more demos, writing detailed replies as a solution to a issue, articles, multiple iterations for my first mock up, pinging my colleagues for any issue until I get a solution, blogs, write ups. New challenges now are fun. I could sense that I am doing things in a better way than I was doing them previously. I realized that even if I am off the work I am checking into my mails or for any work message for me. My work and me seem to made for each other. Oh how nice that sounds. I am glad to have my new found love in my work!
