What do you do ?
After a long time I spoke to my Uncle,who lives in a village and is considered the most Intelligent man there. So very quickly he got into a mood of interrogation about my job.
He asked What do you do ?
I am functional consultant, I replied. After so long hmmm, he said Okay, So what do you do then! I wanted to keep it simple assuming that he won’t be interested in details.
As Functional Consultant I have to understand the modules implemented and the set up and configuration done for a client, and map the requirements of the customer to the capabilities of the our ERP system.
So you visit your clients ?He asked. No no, I work from home.
How do you do all that from Home? I am a part of support team Uncle and we do all that remotely? Aah that’s good. He was happy to hear that.
Okay, so what do you do from home ? Oh God! Now I was ready with a detailed explanation.
When a Prospect or a end users start using the system for their real time business, they need support from our team to set up and configure ERPNext. Since end users are new to the system & new issues/challenges are highly expected,we provide support to the clients. My responsibilities are
- Primarily responsible for Handling tickets/tasks and application support to the end-users.
- When an issue comes to diagnose, analyze and solve it.
Apart from handling the issues I am also responsible for
- Product Functional Enhancements.
- Writing functional specifications.
- Preparing Test Data & its testing.
- Interaction with client/end users & updating the status.
- Training the end users by conducting online sessions
- Interaction with Technical consultants.
- Creating and updating of documents.
Uff, I explained him all this in one go. He was happy to hear all that and finally said, you have a lot to do. Don’t waste your time on phone. Go get back to your work!
